Michigan is full of lovely downtown shopping areas with local businesses full of unique presents, so not only can you support your neighbors and community, but also know that you're helping another Michigan family have a Merry Christmas.

Marquette
Let's start in the UP and work our way around. If you want the ultimate Christmas experience (snow and all) Marquette's downtown is breathtaking.

Ada
This little gem outside of Grand Rapids has a ton of festive cheer, and it really shines in Christmas decor. Ada really is worth the trip out to walk around and enjoy their high end store fronts.
Not only do you need a selfie by the bridge covered in dazzling lights, their many shops have fantastic sales this time of year as well.
Saugatuck
Not only is their adorable downtown super walkable year round, there are a lot of great Michigan made gifts available. Being the "art coast" makes it easy to find unique handmade gifts of all kinds.
Take a stroll by their Christmas Tree and stop in to get some coco, but Saugatuck isn't just a summer destination.
Traverse City
You get a lot of bang for your buck when it comes to shopping opportunities in Traverse City.
Traverse City’s 19th-century brick downtown storefronts are filled with 150 shops, so without a doubt you'll be able to find something that's perfect for the hard to shop for person on your list. They also have some fantastic family friendly events going on during the holidays.
Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo may be in the southern part of the state, but frequent lake effect snow will make you feel like you're in the UP.

Holland
The city of Holland shines it's brightest during Tulip Time, but don't let that fool you, they're full of Christmas cheer, and their downtown is dazzling this time of year.

Head east to get some Christmas Cheer- this college town really springs to life once the holidays take over.
They also have some of the most beautiful displays along their massive downtown walking area, so if you're broke and just trying to find some cheer- the window shopping is almost as good as the actual shopping.
