Grand Rapids Sky Will Light Up for Veterans Day Drone Show This Weekend
If you’re looking for a breathtaking way to honor Veterans Day this weekend, you won’t want to miss what’s happening along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids.
The Celebration of Service Fundraiser is taking over the skies with one of the largest patriotic drone light shows West Michigan has ever seen, and it’s all free for the community to enjoy.
The event is being hosted by Creative Community Entertainment to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, as well as milestone anniversaries for the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Navy. Picture hundreds of colorful drones painting the night sky over the Grand River, synchronized perfectly to music that celebrates America’s history and resilience.
I can only seeing a show like that would leave you with goosebumps.
But the drone show is just the beginning. The celebration will also include a Veteran Creative Arts and Crafts Fair, live entertainment, and plenty of local food trucks so you can grab a bite before the show kicks off.
As part of the event’s mission, Creative Community Entertainment is giving free booth space to veteran entrepreneurs and their families so they can showcase their creativity and businesses.
Funds raised during the event will go toward programs that directly benefit local veterans, including the Creative Arts and Music Program, the 250th Marine Corps Ball, and the 2028 Military Jet Demo Team’s performance at the annual Summer STEM event.
“We are building something truly special for West Michigan. An event that honors service, uplifts veterans, and inspires the next generation through creativity and innovation,” said Jamal Steward, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and President of Creative Community Entertainment. “We invite the community, local businesses, and sponsors to stand with us in making this vision a reality.”
So if you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend Veterans Day weekend, head downtown, grab a cup of hot cocoa or some hand warmers, and watch as the Grand Rapids sky lights up in red, white, and blue with 500 incredible machines paying tribute to those who put it all on the line.
It’s going to be a stunning reminder of how much we owe to the men and women who have served, and a beautiful way to say thank you.
