Michigan State Police Rescue Deer Trapped in Fence in East Grand Rapids
Michigan State Police officers wear a lot of different hats, and this week, officers from the sixth district took on the role of deer rescuers.

Around 8:15 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, a report of a "deer tangled in a wrought-iron fence" at a home in East Grand Rapids.
Once they arrived on the scene, Sgt. Scott Wehler, along with the homeowner, was able to locate the trapped deer and assess the situation. A quick look told the whole story; it appeared that the deer was, in fact, stuck, after misjudging the height of the fence that it was trying to jump over.

Sgt. Wehler and the homeowner then worked together to free the poor little deer from the clutches of the fence.
According to a post from the MSP Sixth District on X, the deer, thankfully, was not hurt and "trotted off once released".
