Michigan State Police Issue Traffic Warning Ahead of Electric Forest
Summer is here, and one of the biggest events of the entire summer is set to happen this weekend in Rothbury, Michigan.
The Electric Forest Festival is back for its thirteenth year! (It began in 2011, but took two years off during the COVID-19 pandemic.) And this year's festival is completely sold out.
While the festival itself isn't set to kick off until Thursday, June 25, the Michigan State Police (MSP) are warning motorists that traffic in the area could be a bit of a nightmare starting tonight (June 22).
Michigan State Police's Warning About Electric Forest Traffic
In a post on X, MSP Sixth District warned that the festival will be bringing "a significant increase in traffic" on northbound US-31 beginning around 11 p.m. on June 22. They say that this increase will likely last through Thursday.

Specifically, MSP Sixth District says that traffic will be heavy on NB US-31 between the Winston Road exit and the Stony Lake Road exit (mile markers 136 to 140).
If you live in the area or are planning to travel through the area, the MSP encourages you to:
- Expect to spend more time on the road. Additional travel time will likely be necessary.
- Take alternate routes if you are able.
- Stay alert (and patient) if you are stuck in traffic.
- Stay off your phone and do not tailgate.
Overall, just be prepared, patient, and calm in traffic. Happy Forest, friends!
