Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish recently discovered young Tallia Storm, a soulful 13-year-old singer from Scotland, and now she’s ready to, well, take the world by storm.

In an interview with Celebuzz, the singer offers details of how she met the pop icon and his husband. Around Christmas, the teen saw the famous couple having breakfast and decided to approach them. “… I thought, this is the one shot,” she explains. “When are you ever going to be in the same room again? I was like, ‘I have to do something!’”

She wrote a short note and wrapped her demo with it before giving it to John. A day later, Storm received a call from the singer himself. “He [said] I’ve let my whole band listen to your songs, I love your music you’ve got a brilliant signature and this brilliant soul especially from a 13 year old — and I couldn’t believe it!”

By the end of the conversation, Storm was invited to open for John at his upcoming show at Scotland’s Falkirk Football Stadium. To prepare for the big event, the fashion-minded teen is “rehearsing really hard because practice makes perfect.”

Storm is learning piano at the suggestion of her mentor, and has recorded 11 songs for her debut album. She’ll share the stage with John on June 10, but is approaching her career with slow dedication. “If it takes me one year, five years, 10 years, I’m going to stick with it,” she insists. “I just want to stick with it and see where it takes me at the moment because I’m still young — I’ve got time, but fingers crossed.”
