Evanescence To Experiment On New Album, Drummer Says
Evanescence drummer Will Hunt has opened up about the band's forthcoming album. In a recent interview with Spin, Hunt says that frontwoman Amy Lee is pushing the band into new territory but fans will still recognize their sound.
"It's always going to sound like Evanescence, 'cause it's Amy Lee singing, but the vehicle for that voice can be different and still be Evanescence," he says.
According to Hunt, a major difference on the new album is the band's experimentation with electronic sounds. He says that Lee is not only breaking new ground for the band, but also for modern rock.
"There are new colors in the pattern," he said. "There's a lot of cool new things going on, both electronically and futuristically. I think she's doing something that's very special and hasn't been done before. I'm a supporter. I think it's killer."
The as-yet-untitled album will be produced by Steve Lillywhite, the legendary producer behind hit records for U2, the Rolling Stones and the Dave Matthews Band.
