Free Comic Book Day 2022: 7 Stores in West Michigan That Are Celebrating This Year

It's opening weekend for Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, so if you're into comics you've probably already secured your seat and saved money for your popcorn to see the movie Thursday or Friday night.

But you don't have to let the high of one of the summer's most anticipated movies be the only fun you have this weekend. Free Comic Book Day 2022 falls on Saturday, May 7th and it's your chance to get your hands on some limited edition and/or free comic books.

So, if you want to make the most of this nerd holiday weekend, here are some of the best places in West Michigan to pick up some comics to celebrate.

Alter Ego Comics

This new comic book store in Comstock Park is celebrating it's first Free Comic Book Day this year, and they're celebrating with free comics as well as 20% off all graphic novels all day. If you live outside of Grand Rapids? Not a problem! All orders online that day will get a free comic included, as well as a 15% discount if you use the code FCBD at checkout.

The Comic Signal

The self proclaimed "home for comic book lovers" is going big for FCBD. According to their social media, they'll have around 50 free titles (while supplies last) ranging from superheroes and movies to video games from publishers like Marvel, DC Comics, Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Dark Horse Comics, AfterShock Comics, Source Point Press, and more. They will also have three artists joining them: Mike Bolhuis, Will Jones, and John Vandercar. And if you're looking for a real deal, their $3 boxes will be 50% off during the event.

Vault of Midnight

Michigan's powerhouse comic book store's Grand Rapids location is having a huge bash from 11-3 on Saturday. They  plan to have a sales tent with quarter comics, dollar comics, super cheap graphic novels and more. Plus, 5 free comic books for every human who shows up, and more than 50 comic titles to choose from. They'll also have appearances from artists Kenny Porter and Steve Foxe.

Argos Comics & Book Store

They are one of the original places in Grand Rapids for people to get their comic book fix, and on Saturday they plan to offer free comics all day while supplies last. If you plan to do some comic hunting with someone who loves used books that aren't comics, this is a must stop.

Tardy's Collector's Corner

If you love all things collectables and comics, Tardy's Corner is absolutely a treat. This Saturday they're celebrating from 11-5 by giving people who stop by 5 free comics, giveaways, they'll have sales and a food truck.

The Outer Limits

Why have one day of celebration when you can have two? This Wyoming comic book store is celebrating both Friday and Saturday with a ton of specials. On Friday May 6 they'll have 70% off back issue in the boxesm 25% off all tpbs and hardcovers, as well as $8.49 + tax for 3 packs of select magic the gathering cards. On Saturday you'll find, 25% off back issue comics in the boxes 25% off Marvel, DC New 52, and all smaller publisher tpbs and 40% off small digest sized tpbs and graphic novels.

Goldmine Comics & Cards

While you're in Wyoming you might as well make a trip to Goldmine too, because the list of comics they'll have available on Saturday is a mile long. They're limiting them to 5 per visitor to make sure everyone gets a chance to grab some, but they'll also be offering special sales and deals that day.
