Grand Cakes Gears Up For Dessert Wars With Lots of Sweet Treats

Grand Cakes is gearing up for Dessert Wars, and today owner Tracey stopped in and brought me a plethora of tasty treats.

Her visit was tied to Dessert Wars, which is Thursday night at Amway Grand Plaza hotel’s Ambassador Ballroom in downtown Grand Rapids.

Grand Cakes is among about a dozen bread, pastry and sweets makers from Grand Rapids and across West Michigan taking part in Dessert Wars, presented by Channel 95.7 and Hobart Corp. Running 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Amway Grand Plaza, 187 Monroe Avenue NW, admission is $8 and children younger than 9 years old are $2 with tickets available at the door. Admission includes 15 sample tickets, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Grand Rapids non-profit Kids’ Food Basket.

Grand Cakes, is located at 4460 Plainfield Avenue NE in Grand Rapids. It's been at the location since August.

Tracey told me about a great wedding cake special running at Grand Cakes right now. A wedding cake that feeds 85 people can be delivered for $150. Just contact Grand Cakes any time in February or March for the deal.

Today, Tracey brought in chocolate chip cookies, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, a cheesecake, red velvet cupcakes, white cupcakes with strawberry filling AND a warm apple pie. I'm in a bit of a sugar coma right now.

For Dessert Wars, Grand Cakes plans to offer a dark chocolate hazelnut truffle. Yum!
