Grand Rapids Community College Offering Craft Brewing Courses In 2016 [Video]

Thanks to a $2.9 million grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Grand Rapids Community College will be offering a craft brewing program.

WZZM-13 reports that GRCC's program "will join a certificate program at Central Michigan University and a joint degree by Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College as other options in the state."

With this comes one of the coolest internships a college student can get, because an internship with a brewery is required to complete the certification, jackpot!

Thinking about making it a career? Not a bad idea because The Brewers Association just released a report showing that craft beer accounted for $20 billion in sales last year, that's up 22 percent from 2013. Other numbers reported by Grand Rapids Business Journal show that craft beer held 5 percent of the beer market in 2010, that's up to 11 percent now.
