For Grand Rapids drivers, there is one place that has seen a lot of construction work lately, and even more is scheduled to start soon.

Busy Grand Rapids Intersection To Close Down Again In March

On Friday Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. shared on social media that starting on Monday March 3rd Division Avenue from Fulton Street to Michigan Avenue will be shut down until at least November.

What Work Is Being Down On Division Avenue

Some of the construction projects that will be tackled over the next 8 months include:

  • New water main & upgraded utilities
  • Separated storm & sanitary sewers
  • Narrower roadways & wider sidewalks
  • Raised bike lanes & new street trees
  • Enhanced street lighting & a raised median

As someone who lives near and works in downtown Grand Rapids, I'm thankful that the intersection of Fulton and Division will remain open this time around. Last year's construction was a bit of a headache.

I'm also really excited to see how nice Division Avenue will look after the upgrades.

And if this project is able to be done earlier than expected and under budget that would be cool with me too!

More than 40 new restaurants, including authentic Mexican eateries, brunch joints, African-fusion restaurants, juice bars, delis, all-you-can eat Korean food, Italian spots and more opened in West Michigan last year.
