I don't know about you, but my grass has been growing like crazy.

I just cut it the past weekend and it's already needing another cut by mid-week.

The good news for me is that I actually like doing lawn work. I find it relaxing, and I love seeing the nice lines from the mower and the clean crisp lines you get from edging the sidewalk and similar areas.

They might not be able to do it because of old age or a physical limitation that prevents them from doing so.

Regardless of the reason, I wanted to know if grass that grows out of control is breaking any laws in Grand Rapids?

Here is what I was able to find out.

Does Grand Rapids Have A Grass Height Law?

The City of Grand Rapids has an ordinance that doesn't allow for grass or weeds to grow higher than 12 inches.

If that happens a complaint can be filed and if action isn't taken to address the long grass or tall weeds you could face additional costs until it's fixed.

Now before you go and file a complaint which might make you the neighborhood karen to some, you should probably talk to your neighbor about the issue.

For all you know their mower could have broken or maybe it's an older person that's not physically up to the task.

In that case you should consider cutting it for them, not only will your neighborhood look better but you'll feel better by helping out a neighbor in need.
