Grand Rapids’ Latin-Inspired Restaurant FINALLY Set to Open Second Location

It's been a long time coming...

But the new Luna restaurant in Ada has officially set an opening date!

We first learned that Luna, a Latin-inspired restaurant downtown Grand Rapids, would be opening a new location in Ada way back in February 2020...

Owner Mario Cascante said in release at the time,

Our handmade, fresh Mexican fare is what put Luna on the map in Grand Rapids. This will continue to be an essential element in our Ada location as well.

Cascante, a native of Costa Rica, and his wife Emily Stachowicz, opened the original Luna Taqueria Cocina downtown Grand Rapids at 64 Ionia SW in 2015.

Of course, we all know what happened in the first part of 2020... The pandemic threw a wrench in pretty much everyone's plans.

Luna has been working on the Ada Village location at 7471 River St. for the past couple years.

The owners shared an update on progress at the new restaurant this past fall.

Now we know when Luna in Ada will open!

The new restaurant is holding a soft opening, May 24-27. Reservations are required and you can make them here.

Luna in Ada will hold its grand opening to the public May 31, dinner only. Owners say reservations re not required, but recommended.

What Kind of Food Does Luna Serve?

While a separate menu for the new location in Ada has yet to be revealed, as previously stated, owners say the new Luna restaurant will serve similar items as the original.

If you're a chip and dip lover like myself, Luna is the place to go!

They have a chips and salsa flight, guacamole and chips, and queso and chips.

Appetizers also include chicken flautas, elote (a corn dish with chile, lime, butter, aioli, and cilantro), and mussels.

Luna serves a wide variety of tacos, including chicken, steak, braised pork, shrimp, chorizo, fish, and sweet potato and black bean.

Toppings include citrus slaw, pineapple salsa, avocado salsa, and more. Entrees also include quesadillas, tortas (Mexican style sandwiches),New York Strip Steak, and chicken fajitas.

The drink menu is definitely impressive too! Luna serves margaritas on draft. They are handmade daily and then kegged. You'll also find extensive options of tequila, mezcal, and bourbon.
