Grand Rapids Non-Profit Hands Out 100 Donated Coats To Those In Need
On Saturday, 100 homeless and unhoused people in Downtown Grand Rapids waited in line at Heartside Park.
They came to get different things they needed from the non-profit Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors.
This weekend, they were able to get warm clothing and toiletries along with something very important, a winter coat.
Who Are Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors?
Earlier this year I had no clue about Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors and the great work they do until our co-worker Wendy told us about them and we knew we wanted to do something to help.
Grand Rapids Neighbors for Neighbors (N4N) is a nonprofit organization created to help meet the needs of Grand Rapids' underserved community by providing essential goods and services. They gather core provisions and consumables, which they distribute on the second Saturday of every month in downtown GR. They believe in the generosity and dignity of humans helping humans.
No questions asked. No papers needed. No pledges and no ID required.
Big Joe and Laura's Warm Hearts Coat Drive
As I mentioned earlier, after finding out about Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors my co-host, Laura, and I decided we wanted to help out and one need was the donation of winter coats.
We came up with Big Joe & Laura's Warm Hearts Coat Drive and over the course of two weeks, thanks to the generosity of our amazing and caring listeners, we smashed our goal of 100 coats and ended up with 400 coats donated that we then gave to our new friends at Grand Rapids Neighbors For Neighbors.
