The new delivery program builds off of the GRPL To Go curbside book pickup. Any local bookworm will be able to check out a book from home and get it in the mail.

Just like with GRPL To Go, readers will place a hold on the item that they want.
There are two ways to place a hold: through your library account on the GRPL catalog, or over the phone by calling 616-988-5400, option 4. They recommend that you have your library card on hand.

Once readers have a book or book bundles on hold, then they select the option to have the Book Bundle mailed to their home for free. When readers are done with the books, they can return them to any GRPL location or by USPS. Note that return postage will not be covered by GRPL.

I think this is a really cool option for people who are limiting the places they visit in person during the pandemic, and also for the elderly and those who are ill. GRPL offers free book delivery AND free return via mail to GR residents who are homebound due to illness, disability, or old age.

If you would like more information on getting books by mail, you can call 616-988-5400. GRPL Delivered is supported by a grant from the Grand Rapids Public Library Foundation.
