Since the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic, we are starting to see cancellations all around the world, the U.S., and here in our backyard.

The Grand Rapids Symphony issued a press release that for the next 30 days all concerts are cancelled.

Our highest priority is to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of every member of the Grand Rapids Symphony family and Western Michigan community.

Following the guidance of the CDC and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, the GR Symphony is taking preventative steps to slow the spread of the virus.

The effect goes into place from Friday, March 13 until Saturday, April 11. Here's a list of the cancelled shows.

The office of the Symphony will also be closed through April 10 as all employees will be working remotely.

Those who purchased a ticket for a show that is now cancelled is encouraged to exchange it for another one at a later date. More info on refunds and exchanges can be found here.

As of March 12, there are 12 confirmed cases in the state including 4 in West Michigan. On Tuesday night, Governor Whitmer declared a state of emergency.
