Before we check out the amazing 2024 line up, let's take a look back at how Pine Knob Music Theater came to be.

The History of Pine Knob Music Theater

Pine Knob Music Theater has long been a beloved summer destination for music lovers. Originally opened in 1972, this outdoor amphitheater has hosted countless iconic artists and bands over the past five decades.
.
The venue was the brainchild of promoter Peter Andrews, who envisioned creating an open-air concert space that could bring big-name acts to the suburbs north of Detroit.

Andrews selected the location of an old ski resort, Pine Knob, as the site for his new music theater.

The natural bowl-shaped terrain provided an ideal acoustic setting, while the surrounding wooded area offered a beautiful backdrop for shows.
.
In its early years, Pine Knob saw performances by legends like Bob Dylan, The Doobie Brothers, and Fleetwood Mac.

Over the years Pine Knob continued to attract a variety of musical talent, from classic rock icons to contemporary pop stars.

One of the venue's most famous moments came in 1984, when Bruce Springsteen played a now-legendary 4-hour set to a capacity crowd of over 15,000 fans.

Over the years, the theater has undergone various renovations and expansions to keep pace with evolving audience expectations.

Most notably, a large covered pavilion was added in the 1990s to provide shelter from the elements for concertgoers

To this day Pine Knob is one of the best places to go to see a show.

Now that you know a little bit more about Pine Knob let's check out whose playing this year.
