There is nothing more fun than heading out to see the West Michigan Whitecaps when they're playing at home- but, in my opinion their special events take the cake. One I'm really looking forward to is coming up on Friday, August 23rd, when the West Michigan Whitecaps will be transforming into their alter egos: the Beer City Bung Hammers. They'll be making their highly anticipated return to LMCU Ballpark, and as a fan, I couldn’t be more excited.

For one night only, the West Michigan Whitecaps will transform into the Beer City Bung Hammers, a beloved tradition that celebrates Beer City USA in the most fitting way possible—by raising a glass to a great cause.

This year’s game has something extra special in store. Saugatuck Brewing Company, the official beer sponsor of the night, is teaming up with the Michigan DNR to make a positive impact on our state’s wildlife. Earlier this year, Saugatuck Brewing committed to donating to the DNR with every case of their Rainbow Rodeo IPA sold during Michigan's trout fishing season. And guess what? Those very same beers will be available at the game.

That means every dollar you spend on a cold, refreshing Rainbow Rodeo IPA while cheering on the Bung Hammers will go directly toward the restoration and protection of wildlife across Michigan. It’s a win-win: you get to enjoy a great night out at the ballpark, and you’re also supporting a fantastic cause.

Plus, representatives from the DNR will be at the game, ready to share more about their projects and how your support helps them protect Michigan’s natural beauty.

So, come out, grab a beer, and let’s root for the Bung Hammers together. It’s not just about baseball—it’s about coming together as a community to support something bigger.
