There are so many things that are made in Grand Rapids, it's hard to keep track. Some of my favorites include those yummy El Matador tortillas, some of your favorite Pop-Tarts flavors at the Kellogg's factory, and not to mention some of our local favorites like Brix Soda.

But did you know some of the Hershey candies that are famously known for being made in Pennsylvania are ACTUALLY made right here in Grand Rapids?

A sluth on the Grand Rapids subreddit noticed that on the packaging it lists that Zagnut Bars are made for the Hershey Candy Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. And it turns out- there actually is a facility that is responsible for cooking up the candies right here in West Michigan.

You won't find a Hershey plant listed on their website, because the manufacturing of the candies is actually contracted out to Roskam Foods which is located on 32nd street.

They also produce 5th Avenue bars from Hershey, as well as frozen food for grocery stores, and airlines, as well as serving as the headquarters for some of their own original brands that are produced elsewhere like Organic Milling.

While you won't see the name outside of the pretty subtle building these products are manufactured, it's pretty cool to know that they're being made by our friends and neighbors right here in West Michigan. (Even if they're not getting a ton of credit for it outside of Grand Rapids)
