Why the Lions-Commanders Playoff Clash Is Among the Priciest in NFL History
It's getting much more expensive to see the Detroit Lions now that they're biting their way to the Super Bowl. This Saturday, the Detroit Lions will take on the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Home Game.
The average price of season tickets to see Detroit's NFL team were $83.36 in 2014. Meanwhile, at the start of the 2024 season, we saw tickets to see the Lions hit $100 a game for the cheapest season ticket seats in Ford Field. And now that they're in the playoffs- you're going to have to pay a pretty penny to see them take on the Washington Commanders this weekend during the playoffs.

The game is obviously sold out, so that leads fans to the secondary market where the cheapest tickets are going for a minium of 5x more than their original prices. In fact currently, the cheapest ticket to get in to Saturday's game is over $500 on Tickpick.
And while that may not see "too bad" for some Lions fans, that price point is limited, with most tickets hitting around $1,000 on average.
A tiktok account recently broke down some of the insane prices:
However, I did find better deals (tickets in the $400s) on Stubhub, SeatGeek, Gametime, and others. But with those websites, you still run the risk of being scammed and ending up empty-handed. Meanwhile, you can find similar pricing on Ticketmaster, which does have verified resellers and protection.
So while this game has the potential to be a part of the Lion's hopeful historical run for the Super Bowl, it's going to put a dent in your bank account if you plan to be there and don't have season tickets already.
