Ionia Elementary School Closed Monday Morning After Bomb Threat
Officials report that after receiving a bomb threat an Ionia Elementary School is closed on Monday August 22nd, 2022.
A post on Boyce Elementary School's social media accounts reads,
The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We are sending this communication within our commitment to keep you informed of important events. We have been collaborating with law enforcement on a recent bomb threat made against Boyce Elementary that the District was made aware of at 3:45am.
Upon thorough searches of Boyce with K-9 units, law enforcement and IPS agree that there is no credible threat to Boyce Elementary.
To err on the side of caution and continue investigating, Boyce Elementary will be closed on Monday, August 22, 2022. All other IPS schools will remain open. IPS has zero tolerance for threats of any nature. As always, do not hesitate to contact us with any questions that you may have.
At this time, no device has been found, and all other Ionia Public Schools remain open on Monday August 22nd. It is not expected at this time that the school will remain closed on Tuesday, August 23rd, but you will want to keep an eye on communcations from the school.
