The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for West Michigan 7a.m. Thursday February 16 through 7a.m. Friday February 17, 2023.

Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are predicted for Kent, Ottawa, Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, and Gratiot Counties.

In Ionia, Clinton, Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Ingham, and Van Buren Counties total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected and ice accumulations of around 1 tenth of an inch.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will arrive in Lower Michigan as soon as late Thursday morning, then end late Thursday night. Mainly snow is expected north of I-96. Elsewhere, periods of snow, sleet, and/or freezing rain are expected on Thursday, then a change to snow is likely by Thursday evening.

Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

This upcoming wintry weather follows a wind advisory that was in place until 4p.m. on Wednesday, February 15.
