Bates clutch kicking is the reason he's been named the NFC special teams player of the week for the 2nd time this season.
Bates got the honor this week after making two 50-plus-yard field goals in the Lions' come-from-behind win over the Houston Texans.
Bates was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week earlier this year after making a game-winning 44-yarder against the Minnesota Vikings.
Bates has not missed a single field goal attempt this season, maintaining an impressive record of 14-for-14. This includes three successful kicks from over 50 yards
I know it's really early, but maybe, just maybe, Jake Bates could be the next Jason Hanson for the Detroit Lions as they continue working towards their goal of a Super Bowl.
