Michigan Meteorologist Shares Scary Reason Behind Those Stitches
A lot of times, people need to get stitches to close up a wound and let the skin heal after they experience a bad injury or cut themselves on something.

A beloved West Michigan meteorologist recently appeared on TV sporting some fresh stitches and shared with his viewers how he got them.

In the post Thompson gave concerned viewers an update on why he had the stiches.
"Earlier this week, I had a procedure (called Mohs surgery) to remove basal cell carcinoma (BCC) that was detected on my forehead last November. BCC is a common form of skin cancer resulting from prolonged exposure to UV rays. It is slow-growing and typically curable when treated early. I’m happy to report that the Mohs procedure was successful and, according to the very capable dermatologist who performed the procedure, the BCC is no more. Obviously, the procedure is invasive, so I’m wearing a little reminder in the form of several stitches that should come out in about a week. The BCC was detected at the same time as melanoma was found. Many of you already know I had surgery to remove the melanoma last December. I’m continuing post-surgery immunotherapy treatments and am incredibly blessed to say that all is well and my prognosis is very positive. I truly appreciate your concern and thoughts! They mean so much!"
I'm so glad that the procedure went well and also that he shared with everyone what happened.
This should be a great reminder for everyone who enjoys being outside and soaking up the sun how important it is to take proper precautions to protect your skin.
