
Kent County Sheriff Launches Kent Safety Network
The Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) has launched a new program aimed at helping with response times as well as investigations.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the KCSO announced its newest program - the Kent Safety Network.
What is the Kent Safety Network?
The Kent Safety Network is "an interactive map of security cameras in Kent County".
Who is a Part of the Kent Safety Network?
Anyone and everyone can be a part of the network. Normal everyday households, businesses, schools, and churches are all encouraged to sign up for the program.
How Does the Kent Safety Network Work?
Individuals, businesses, and organizations can register their security cameras to be a part of the network. KCSO emphasizes that police will not have live access to your camera's live feed.

Instead, it will let authorized users know that your camera is part of the network should a crime or incident occur nearby. If officials believe that footage from your camera may help with an investigation, they will contact you and ask you to share it with them.
Currently, according to the network's website, there are 68 registered cameras and 2,227 integrated cameras in Kent County.
Is There a Cost Associated With Joining the Kent Safety Network?
Registering your camera is completely free for both residents and businesses and organizations. According to the network, it only takes 60 seconds to complete your registration.
