Learn Something New With Return Of Free Classes At Grand Rapids Public Museum

We all know that Knowledge is power.

But once school is over, you may find yourself missing out on learning new things. Or, maybe you have a curious young one that wants to expand the base they already have. Thankfully, Grand Rapids has a few sources for free educational courses for people of all ages and interests.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum just announced the return of their Saturday Investigations, where they invite children and adults of the community to explore various topics of interest every Saturday in the month of March.

What classes are being offered at the Grand Rapids Public Museum in March 2023?

Each class happens on the date listed, and lasts for 75 minutes, starting at 10:15 a.m. -11:30 a.m. The classes are $2 with admission, or $7 if you want to come visit only the class. (note: Kent County children can visit the GRPM for free.)

Saturday, March 4th - The Paradox of Poison

This course will expand on the traveling exhibit "The Power of Poison" that has been at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. All who attend with all the chance to discover toxic tales through specimen investigation, Museum exploration, and a detective whodunnit.

Saturday, March 11th -  Sustainable Fashion

Calling all aspiring fashionistas who want to change the world! They will be offering guided activities and interactive modules, finding ways to innovate and reduce the harmful impacts of the fashion industry. Attendees will also have the chance to create upcycled fashion to take home.

Saturday, March 18th - Solar System Discovery

Perfect for would-be astronauts, this class includes an interactive planetarium experience where you can participate using remote-control clickers. You'll get to visit planets, asteroids, and more as you decide what exciting worlds to explore.

Saturday, March 25th - Sturgeon Excursion

Get a little fishy with this class that explores the importance of Sturgeon in West Michigan. Attendees will meet the mighty Lake Sturgeon, understand the cultural history of this area and find out a few ways to care for the quality of our watershed.
