A Visiting Florida Man Won Big on the Michigan Lottery and Is Moving Back

That's what recently happened to a 75-year-old Florida man who was visiting his family.

He bought his winning Fantasy 5 lottery ticket at the Wesco gas station on Colby Road in Whitehall.

He recently made the trip to Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to collect his money and shared with officials how he came to buy the winning ticket.

“My wife and I come to Michigan a lot because it’s where our family is, so whenever we are here, I pick back up playing my Fantasy 5 numbers. After the drawing that night, I checked my ticket by scanning it on the Michigan Lottery app. When I saw how much I’d won, I yelled to my wife: ‘We just won the lottery!’ and we both started to cry. We were up the rest of the night because we were both too excited to sleep.”

With the winnings the man says he plans to move to Michigan and buy a house so he can be closer to his family.

This lucky Floridian, soon to be Michigander, isn't the only person to win big playing the Michigan Lottery.

A man visiting Michigan from Maryland recently won $1,000,000 playing a Lucky Numbers instant win ticket.

A Bay County woman who had been playing Lotto 47 for 20 years with the same numbers hit it big and won $1.1 million.

And an Oakland County woman playing Fantasy 5 online accidentally selected a wrong number that resulted in her winning $250,000.
