Sorry Not Sorry, These Are LSSU’s Banished Words For 2025
This may be a "game changer" for some while others will consider it "cringe", but Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, has released its annual list of banished words.
This year's list appears to focus much more on slang than previous years.

The History of Lake Superior State University's Banished Words List
The List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-Use, Over-Use and General Uselessness has been around since 1976 when the university's Public Relations Director W.T. Rabe released the first one.

And the university doesn't just come up with the list on its own. They receive thousands of nominations for words to potentially banish every year. If you have one you'd like to see make the list next year, you can submit it on LSSU's website.

Parents of school-aged children will be overjoyed to learn that "skibidi" made this year's list (sadly, "bruh" did not. But thankfully, "rizz" made the list last year.) And for the Swifties out there, I'm sorry to say that it seems folks would like you to stop talking about which "era" you're in.
"Cringe" makes this year's list which isn't all that surprising when you remember that "cringe-WORTHY" got the boot last year.
