Michigan and Michigan State Campuses Vandalized As Rivalry Week Heats Up
Both Michigan's Diag and Michigan State's Sparty Statue have been vandalized as the rivalry game fast approaches on Saturday.
The Michigan and Michigan State rivalry is one of the most storied rivalries of all time and every year students from both schools turn to pranks and vandalism during the week leading up to the game.
This year is no exception as both campuses have already been 'tagged' by their rival school. Sunday morning, around 3 am police were called to the iconic 'M' located at the center of The Diag in Ann Arbor. Vandals had spray painted 'MSU' over the block 'M'. One Spartan fan took a photo and declared on his Twitter that "rivalry week has officially started"
Shortly after that incident, U of M fans retaliated by spray painting a blue and yellow 'M' on the pavement in front of the Sparty Statue in East Lansing. Which is kinda funny, because during rivalry week, students stand guard over Sparty 24/7. Must have been bathroom break time or something...
This isn't new and these types of pranks have been happening for decades. We don't condone vandalism, but it is always fun to watch students from both schools playing pranks on one another. Here's to an awesome rivalry week and a great game on Saturday!
You can watch the 24th ranked Spartans take on the 6th ranked Wolverines on Saturday at 12:00pm on FOX.
