Thin ice can be dangerous, an estimated 250 people die each year in the U.S. after falling through ice-covered waterways.

Despite the danger, two Michigan brothers cautiously stepped out onto the thin ice to save the life of a deer struggling in the icy water.

Brave Michigan Brothers Risk Lives To Rescue Drowning Deer

Jeff Lipple and Capt. Greg Lipple of Island Charters were able to rescue a deer that had fallen through the ice in Cedarville Bay of the Les Cheneaux Islands.

Thankfully the dramatic water rescue was caught on several different cameras.

In the video that is posted below we start out seeing a young doe appearing almost frozen in the icy water.

As the deer turns her head you can see all the cold water has turned into ice on her head.

The brothers brought out a ladder in an attempt to rescue the deer.

The deer got close to the ladder but didn't try to climb out of the water.

The brothers then tried to tie a rope around the deer to drag it out of the water.

They also got in the water and tried using a kayak to help it out.

After many attempts they were finally able to get the deer out of the water.

But just as things looked to be over the deer once again feel through the ice.

Thankfully this time it was much easier to get the deer and to dry land.
