Growing up on a steady diet of Disney movies, I always dreamed of living in my very own castle… I’m my dreams, my castle comes with a grand staircase, an enchanted library, and maybe a friendly talking candlestick just like my favorite movie as a kid.

While I haven’t quite found my royal residence yet, Michigan is home to some incredible castles that are just a road trip away.

Scattered across the state, these castles offer a glimpse into Michigan’s rich history, stunning architecture, and even a little bit of fairytale magic. Some were built as private mansions, others as historic landmarks, and a few even let you step inside for a tour. (One even serves as a dentist office!)

From the towering elegance of Castle Farms in Charlevoix to the mysterious ruins of the Curwood Castle in Owosso has more hidden royal gems than you might expect. While none of them come with a resident prince or a dragon to slay, they’re still a magical escape from everyday life that you can enjoy.

Whether you’re a fellow Disney lover, a history buff, or just someone who appreciates a scenic road trip, these castles make for a dreamy adventure without ever leaving the state. So grab your tiara (or at least make sure you pack your best road trip snacks) and get ready to explore seven stunning castles right here in Michigan. Until I get my own fairytale home, I figure that visiting these magical spots is the next best thing!
