For me and my friends, it seems to have been worse this year than previous years.

My wife and I didn't have COVID, but we seemed to have had every other kind of crud imaginable during the month of January. Several friends of mine who have young kids have been passing around all sorts of crud that has everyone down for the count.

However, not every family is as fortunate, including those in Michigan who have lost a child to influenza.

A Fifth Child In Michigan Has Died From Influenza

The Kent County Health Department shared the sad news that two children have died from influenza, raising the total number of children who have died from influenza this flu season to five.

KCHD Health Officer Dr. Adam London commented on the two influenzna deaths.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of these young lives to influenza, This is a heartbreaking reminder that while the flu can be mild for some, it poses serious health risks for others. We encourage anyone who has not received a flu shot this season to consider doing so as soon as possible to protect our community and our children."
