One Michigan man took the simple advice his father gave him and it ended up having a dramatic impact on his life for the better.

A 38-year-old man from Wayne County, Michigan, won the record-breaking $7.19 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery by following his father's advice.

The anonymous winner had been playing Lotto 47 for years, frequently changing his numbers.

However, his father had advised him to select a set of numbers and stick with them.

Recently those numbers - 22-24-26-40-41-44 - proved to be the winning combination, securing him the largest prize ever claimed on the Michigan Lottery website.

The winner initially thought he had won a smaller prize when he received an email notification from the lottery.

But once he logged into his account, he was blown away to see that there was a $7.19 million jackpot pending.
