Ionia's native son, Billy Strings is now nationwide. The bluegrass wizard showed up on last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live to benefit a cause dear to his heart.

Billy Strings cut his teeth busking on the streets of Traverse City as a teenager, and he's been one of the nation's rising stars on the bluegrass scene for the last two years.

Monday night, Strings made his network TV debut, appearing on behalf of the charity saveourstages.com, an organization bent on keeping some of the revered independent music venues around the country from going down in the wake of the CoVid-19 pandemic.

Billy is raising awareness for the National Independent Venue Association. NIVA is asking Congress for help, because without it, 90% of the music venues we love will close forever.

Billy's part of a bluegrass revitalization happening, and he's 100% Pure Michigan.

Here he is singing 'Taking Water'.
