3 Important Reasons CTE Should Be A Requirement For All Students In Michigan
When I say there are many important reasons why CTE should be a requirement for all students in Michigan, you might scratch your head and wonder what I am talking about.
The CTE I'm referring to isn't chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), the brain disease that can develop after repeated head injuries or concussions.

The CTE I’m talking about is something that can help young men and women for many years after they graduate high school.
What Is CTE?
In this case, CTE stands for Career and Technical Education, an educational pathway designed to equip students with the academic, technical, and practical skills necessary for success in various careers.
When I was in school, it was called Auto Shop, and now as an adult, I wish I had taken it because there are so many things with my car that I don't know how to fix on my own.
I never had the joyful experience of working on a car with my dad while he yelled at me to hold the light still like some of my buddies did.
However, thanks to YouTube and TikTok, I've learned how to do some simpler repairs, which have added up to big savings.
3 Reasons CTE Should Be a Requirement for All Students in Michigan
There are many reasons why I believe students in Michigan should be required to take CTE. These three reasons are the biggest for me:
Check Your Brakes: Replacing brake pads and rotors yourself can save you hundreds of dollars compared to professional service fees.
Doing the work yourself eliminates the need to schedule appointments and wait at repair shops.
Replace a Headlight Bulb: Learning how to change your headlight bulb is beneficial for several reasons. If a headlight goes out, changing it yourself allows you to quickly resolve the issue without waiting for an appointment at a garage.
By changing the bulb yourself, you can save on labor costs charged by auto repair shops. Headlight replacement is typically a straightforward task that does not require professional assistance.
Change a Flat Tire: Some people might argue that there's no need to learn how to change a flat tire because they have roadside coverage and someone else can do it.
While that might be true, learning this skill prepares you for various scenarios, such as being stranded in remote areas where help may not be readily available.
You don't have to know how to work on a car to appreciate these cool Michigan license plates!
