
Why Are Michigan Shoplifters Being Forced To Wash Cars?
To some, shoplifting isn't that big of a deal, sure it's a crime but you're not really hurting anyone.

Unfortunately, that's not true. Retailers in Michigan lost $2.298 billion in revenue to theft in 2022.

That lost revenue is then passed on to us, the customers, which hurts our wallets.
To help deter future shoplifting, a Michigan judge has come up with a an interesting way to punish those who have recently been found guilty.
Why Are Michigan Shoplifters Being Forced To Wash Cars?
Judge Jeffrey Clothier was recently elected to Genesee County District Court and he's wasting no time on finding unique ways to punish criminals who break the law.
He's decided that people found guilty of shoplifting will find themselves being part of the "Walmart Wash.”
When the weather warms up in the next couple of months, they will be required to wash cars outside of the same Walmart they were found guilty of shoplifting from.
Not everyone is a fan of public shaming, but I think this is an awesome idea.
Could you imagine how embarrassing it would be if your friends and family, along with everyone in town, saw you washing cars and knew it was because you shoplifted?
