Muskegon Academy Adds Dorms For Students to Live In While They Are Getting Their High School Diploma
This is a great story from Muskegon, being reported by WZZM. Covenant Academy, is ready to open their first dorm, Covenant Hall, aimed at helping homeless students finish high school.
One of the biggest challenges for at risk students actually finishing high school is dependable housing, which is what the school hopes to help with by creating the on campus living arrangements. Covenant Hall will be a place for students between the ages of 16 and 22 years old, who are working on getting their diploma.
WZZM talked with a Covenant Academy teacher, Lisa Menerick, who said the school will house 35 students and have a huge positive impact for Muskegon.
"I think this is an outstanding project for Muskegon, for the children, and students that are homeless. They will have an opportunity not only to go to school, get their high school diploma graduate and go on to better and bigger things."
Classes begin at Covenant Academy, July 24th, with a dedication of Covenant Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
