The city of Grand Rapids has joined the smart phone craze... finally.  The city recently released a new iPhone and Android app called Grand Rapids 311.  The app is designed let citizens of Grand Rapids lend a helping hand to city authorities.

Grand Rapids 311 is free and can be found by searching 'Grand Rapids 311' in your app store.  Here is how AndroLib.com, an Android application search engine, describes it:

Grand Rapids 311 helps residents make their neighborhoods more beautiful by reporting local issues including potholes, graffiti, and streetlight outages. Residents can track the status of reports they or other members of the community have submitted.

So start helping out your fair city today!  Download the app and report and pot holes, graffiti or streetlight outages.  I downloaded the app this morning and it works quite well.  Check the recent additions to find areas of road to avoid or add your own pothole grievance.  Upload pictures of graffiti or potholes that you take on your phone and tweet other users pothole posts.  All and all this is a very useful application for city officials.  Good job Grand Rapids!
