Niles, Michigan Artist Announced As Part of Stagecoach 2025 Lineup

Before you start racking your brain thinking "Wait, is Zach Bryan from Niles?" - no, this artist isn't generally considered to be a part of the country music scene. But, they're representing West Michigan at one of the biggest country music festivals of 2025.

Tommy James and the Shondells have been announced as part of the Stagecoach 2025 lineup in California. For many, this is a moment of celebration, especially for those in Niles, Michigan—a small town in the southwest corner of the state where the band’s musical journey began.

Known for timeless hits like "Crimson and Clover" and "Draggin' the Line," Tommy James and the Shondells became an iconic fixture in the 60s and 70s, shaping the sound of an entire generation. Their innovative approach to rock music, combined with a dynamic stage presence, left an indelible mark on the industry. Today, Tommy's influence continues, not only through his music but also via his SiriusXM show, where fans can catch him every Sunday on Channel 73 - 60s Gold.

James' story started in Niles, Michigan, where as a young teenager, he formed a band called The Echoes, which later evolved into Tommy James and the Shondells. His rise to fame was gradual, with the group releasing their first single, "Long Pony Tail," while James was still in high school. It wasn’t until 1964, after renaming the band and recording the now-classic "Hanky Panky," that James and his bandmates began to gain significant traction. Although their early success was regional, a rediscovery of "Hanky Panky" in Pittsburgh skyrocketed them to national fame.
