The USDA sent out an alert that Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling just over 132,000 pounds of ground beef products. Yes, this could concern you, because the meat was shipped and sold across the country, including here in West Michigan.

The meat in question could be contaminated with E. Coli, which is also believed to be the cause of 17 people getting sick and one person dying sing August 16th, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The ground beef items were produced and packaged on June 21, 2018. The products in question will have the establishment number “EST. 86R” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The big concern the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has is that people may have froze the beef in question to use it later and will become ill, so they are encouraging anyone who purchased beef to check the labels to make sure you’re in the clear.
