Grand Rapids Community College's 28th annual community celebration recognizing the contributions of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday night features Public Enemy MC Chuck D as keynote speaker.

Public Enemy was inducted last April into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Chuck D, the group's co-founder, has the given name Carlton Ridenhour, and is a rapper, author, producer, publisher, radio host and social activist who helped create socially and politically conscious rap music in the mid-1980s.

The free public event at GRCC's Ford Fieldhouse is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fisk University's Fisk Jubilee Singers is the musical entertainment.
