A West Olive woman has been searching tirelessly for her missing cat Rebel for the past four months, believing he is trapped in an underground pipe system near a movie theater in Grand Haven Township.

In late May, Amber Fehr's two cats escaped from her car while she was in the parking lot of the Grand Haven 9 movie theater on Hayes Street.

One cat, Oscar, stayed close to the vehicle, but Rebel ran towards a culvert in an embankment.

After days of searching the tall brush with no sign of Rebel, Fehr was ready to give up hope.

However, when she returned one final time before leaving town, she noticed something strange.

Oscar was standing in front of the culvert entrance, not budging or responding to Fehr's calls.

When she picked him up and brought him to the car, he immediately ran back to the exact same spot.

After waiting for some time near the drain, Fehr said she finally heard a faint cry of distress.

Fehr has spent countless hours searching the area with cameras and audio equipment, and has gained access to the drain plans for the area.

In audio clips posted to a Facebook group, Fehr's calls can be heard, followed by what sounds like Rebel meowing in the distance.

The Grand Haven 9 theater has been cooperating with Fehr's search efforts and hopes she is able to locate Rebel.

I'm hoping that with more awareness about Rebel going missing that he will be found and reunited with Amber and Oscar.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
