RIP: Grand Traverse Pie Co. in Kentwood Officially Closing After Crash
All good things come to an end. And sometimes that end is caused by a car crashing through the front windows of your business.
That's the story of what happened earlier this year in April when a car crashed through the front of the Grand Traverse Pie Company location in Kentwood on 28th Street in Grand Rapids.
At the time, an accident that occured on 28th Street spilled over towards the restaurant. While that accident didn't originally involve the building, when the person in one of the crashed cars said their neck and chest hurt, it caused them to hit the gas instead of the brakes at the time of the crash. While the crash would have probably stayed in the road, because they hit the gas, their vehicle then crashed into the Kentwood restaurant, causing multiple non-life threatening injuries.
Several people eating there at the time sustained injuries, but thankfully everyone ended up being mostly okay in the end. The crash was not reported to be caused by alcohol or other drugs, just a bad case of "wrong place, wrong time".
Why is this location not re-opening?
No specific reason was given in their farewell post to their facebook page
However, they say that they trust 'God's will', and they have faith in their next chapter. There is no word on if another location will open to replace this one in the future.
However, here's hoping they do decide to open another location in Kentwood, because they have one of the most underrated breakfast sandwiches in West Michigan, and I'd love to have a location in my neighborhood again.
