More Big Upgrades Are Happening at This Celebration Cinemas Location
If you’ve spent enough time at a movie theater, you can tell when something’s changing even before the “Coming Soon” signs go up.
If you’ve been to the Rivertown Crossings location lately, you already know Celebration has been modernizing and updating the place. Last year brought the luxury heated recliners and the addition of a Studio C Premium theater, which honestly changed the entire movie-going experience for those of us who live in the Grandville and Wyoming area. Once you sit in those seats, there’s no going back to those old school stiff back seats.
Now, it looks like the awesome upgrades are spilling out into the lobby.
From the mall food court side, it’s pretty obvious something big is happening. The old ticket booths appear to be on their way out, and the lobby is being reworked likely to match the sleek, modern feel of the renovated theaters.
The biggest clue is the space being carved out for what looks like a full kitchen and bar area, which would put this location in line with other Celebration Studios across West Michigan that already offer expanded menus and drinks.
Right now, the setup does make things feel a little different. The lobby extends more into the mall instead of wrapping around like it used to, which might add a minute or two to your wait if you’re grabbing concessions. But it’s hard to be annoyed when you can clearly see where this is heading.
And the important stuff hasn’t changed: The popcorn is still hot, the movies are still playing, and the seats are still ridiculously comfy. Thankfully the mild inconvenience is temporary, and the payoff is going to be worth it.
If this ends with a full kitchen menu, a bar, and a lobby that finally matches how nice the theaters themselves already are, I’m all in. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when they’re done.
