We have all done it -- stopped by a drive thru and then ate our food while driving -- but is it legal in Michigan?

This week in Michigan and Wisconsin law enforcement is looking for distracted drivers in a very unique way

Currently, Michigan only has laws banning texting while driving.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Kent County Sherrif's Department along with GRPD and Wyoming Public Safety will be stepping up enforcement to help with the study and save lives.

July 12-18 is Operation Safe Driver Week and there will be an increase of traffic enforcement all across the state.

Police are putting residents on alert.

The new law goes into effect on Friday.
