
Legendary West Michigan Meteorologist Terri DeBoer Stepping Away From FOX-17
Legendary West Michigan meteorologist Terri DeBoer, who has been forecasting the weather in West Michigan for over three decades. But now, her familiar smiling face will no longer be seen on televisions across West Michigan.

Terri DeBoer's Long Career In West Michigan
In September 2023, DeBoer announced that she would be retiring from her position at WOOD-TV8, where she had been a meteorologist since 1992. A little over a year later, in October 2024, DeBoer announced that she would again be on the air in West Michigan, this time on FOX-17.

DeBoer initially was only on-air part-time at FOX-17, forecasting the weather on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. However, DeBoer had been on the air more frequently in recent months, covering for Chief Meteorologist Kevin Craig while he was out on leave.
Terri DeBoer Announces Her Retirement From FOX-17
On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, DeBoer posted on her Facebook page that she would be stepping away from FOX-17. She said that she's "moving toward a new 'What's Next'."
DeBoer said that while working a full-time schedule this winter, she realized that it was time for her to step away. During that time, she "navigated the deep personal loss" of her mother, who became ill and passed away. She said that all of that reminded her that "life is short".
She said that she's been so busy that she has yet to meet her newest grandson.
What's Next For Terri DeBoer?
Travel, and lots of it, to spend time with her family. DeBoer says that she now has five grandchildren (with number six on the way) spread across three different states. So, what will she do first?
A flight to Seattle for some long-overdue snuggles with the newest member of the family.
Aside from that, she says that she's "looking forward to exploring my 'what’s next'!"
