We're all aware of distracted driving but it's crazy to think that we live in a world now where we have to worry about distracted walking.

Almost everyone has a cell phone in their hand when they're walking. No matter what it is someone is doing on their phone, distracted walking has caused an increase in accidents and fatalities. According to CBS New York,

...since 2010, there has been a 35 percent increase nationally in the number of accidents related to distracted pedestrians."

Because of that, lawmakers in New Jersey are trying to make texting and walking illegal. A bill was introduced, last week, that if a person is caught distracted walking they could get a $50 fine, 15 days in jail or even both.

There are currently some cities in the U.S. who have a ban similar to this, but not an entire state.

The bill still has to be voted on.

Do you think there should be a law against texting and walking/distracted walking?
