I was caught totally by surprise recently when somebody posted a photo of a University of Michigan mosaic bench that is apparently in a farmers market somewhere in Mexico. But why is this bench here and how did it come to be?

The photo was posted in the Michigan Wolverines Fans Facebook group, followed by many other people who have been there and posting their own photos of the bench.

The one in this article was provided by Holly Gast showing her son, Carter Gast, sitting on the stone mosaic bench. Funny enough, the family is actually from OHIO of all places, but Carter is a huge U of M fan and is a baseball player himself as an outfielder for Tri-C baseball. But what was the purpose of this bench being erected in Mexico of all places?

Possible Connection

I found a website that may indicate why this bench may have been added to the collage of benches that stretch this farmers market. The University of Michigan Ross School of Business actually has an alumni club located in Mexico City, and their website indicates it's legit:

Welcome to the Michigan Ross Alumni Club of Mexico! Connect with fellow alumni, attend events, stay informed, and help build Michigan Ross' visibility in the Mexico City area. We are always developing new programming, events, and career development opportunities, so please join our mailing list and check back frequently for updates. And as always, GO BLUE!

Still, I couldn't find ANYTHING online about the people who dedicated the bench, why it's there, or any info on it. So any feedback would be crucial.

Take a Peak at U of M Coach Jim Harbaugh's Multi-Million Dollar Estate

University of Michigan's Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh million dollar estate in California is quite the place. The estate has an 8,500-square-foot home and a guest house with five bedrooms. There are a total of eight bathrooms between them. The estate covers 1.3 acres in Atherton which is considered one of the most affluent locations in the area near Stanford University. The home just sold for $11.78M. Take a look inside.
