The City of Grand Rapids is hosting a pool party on Sunday, August 18th, but this one isn't for kids or adults.

The seventh annual Wag 'n' Wade pool party is for your furry four legged friends to have a good time and cool of in the Richmond Park Pool located at 1101 Richmond St NW.

Grand Rapids Hosting Free Wag 'n' Wade Pool Party Just For The Dogs

The event comes as the pool season ends for the year.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome and this event is free to attended.

The pool party is broken into multiple 1 hour swim sessions.

Session 1 Small Dogs : 12:00-1:00pm - Dogs under 35lbs

Session 2 Larger Dogs 1: 1:15-2:15pm - Dogs over 35lbs

Session 3 Larger Dogs 2: 2:30 - 3:30pm Dogs over 35lbs

Session 4: Older Dogs 3:45-4:45pm Dogs over 8 years old

The city shared a list of reminders for the event including what they'll provide, what you'll need to bring and last but not least, important rules you need to follow.

What Will Be Provided

  • Dog waste bags
  • Drinking water for dogs
  • Tennis balls

What You Need To Bring

  • Leash for taking your dog in and out of the pool area
  • A towel (optional, but recommended)
  • A dog life jacket (optional, but recommended)
  • Dog booties (optional, but recommended)

Rules To Follow

  • No humans are allowed in the pool water, only dogs
  • Your dog(s) must be on a leash when entering and leaving the pool
  • You must supervise and remain with your dog at all times
  • Your dog must always be wearing a collar
  • Please leave all personal toys and treats at home
  • You are responsible to clean up after your dog
  • If your dog(s) is acting aggressively, you will need to remove yourself and your dog(s) from the pool area

Pre registration for the seventh annual Wag 'n' Wade pool party is required and begins today (Monday 7/22 at 8:00 a.m.)
