Wendy Checks Out Grove For Restaurant Week Grand Rapids
Restaurant Week is one of my favorite times of year. When else can you enjoy awesome dinners at some of Grand Rapids' best restaurants for only $28 per person for a 3-course dinner? If you want to get in on it, you'd better hurry! Restaurant Week ends Sunday.
So, Tuesday night my boyfriend and I headed to a restaurant we've always wanted to check out, but never have - Grove on Cherry St. on Grand Rapids' east side.
A note about Grove if you've never been - you're going to want to make a reservation. The place fills up fast. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m., which seemed like a weird time to call and make a reservation, so I made ours through the OpenTable App, and it was super easy.
Now, to the food. All of the food.
Here's the deal with Grove's Restaurant Week offerings - they're not all listed on the RW website, because they change throughout the week. So, don't judge that some of the stuff that we ordered isn't on the list.
For the first course, I went with the Tomato Salad with horseradish ricotta, marinated cherry tomatoes, pepitas, smoked tomato vinaigrette, lavender gel, and VPF arugula. Due to food allergies, I had to forgo the ricotta, but it was still amazing.
My boyfriend ordered the samosa, and said it was equally delicious.
For our next course, I went with the Trout with romesco, mixed grains, Ham Family Farm greens, sorrel. I'm a big fan of fish and this was perfectly cooked and paired really well with the accouterments.
Chris went with the lasagna, and said it was one of the best he's ever had.
When it came time for dessert, we were both stuffed, but we had to get something because - dessert. I went with the ricotta cheesecake, while Chris opted for the lemon tart. Neither of us wanted to share with the other because it was just SO. GOOD.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we were super pleased, as you can tell from our faces.
