No, My Husband Isn’t Going To Cook on National Men Make Dinner Day
Today is National Men Make Dinner Day, which falls annually on the first Thursday in November. The day was originally designated for men who don't know their way around the kitchen (or any of the appliances in it), in hopes they discover the joy of culinary arts. And let's be honest- to give the ladies in their lives that make dinner every day a break.
But this year, I'm going to celebrate by making dinner for my husband instead.

No, before you spout off about how I'm taking women's rights back a billion years, or that I am one of those West Michigan women who probably voted in a way that was against my rights- I have a good reason I'll be stepping up to the stovetop, and it has everything to do with how awesome my husband is.
Even our cat is impressed with his culinary skills. We love a man that can cook in this house!
You see, my husband is an incredible work from home dad, so almost every single meal in our home is prepared by him. Not only does he love to cook, it helps him de-stress. But the real reason why he cooks for us? He also knows that thanks to being raised by a single dad- I'm way more likely to poison us than feed us.
Does this arrangement work for everyone? No. However, in our household, he is happiest when he's making something to feed our son and me, while I'm happiest helping in other ways while he's fixing us food. So while this holiday, as tongue and cheek as it may be, is cute- it actually is every single day in my household. And, I couldn't be luckier.
So maybe I won't poison us by cooking and I'll order a pizza from Martha's Pizza instead (it's his favorite, after all) to celebrate.
